Guide to the filling of containers
The safe filling of organic liquids
Stationary filling of organic liquids in drums and IBC on pallets (SLF 212b)
The containers to be filled are secured against tilting and transported to the filling area on a pallet. The fill volume is set on the filling system. After the container has been put in place and positioned correctly, the filling process is begun. In the case of an incorrectly positioned suction (excessive distance to the container opening), vapours are released which then enter the working area; with the correctly positioned and functional suction, they are adequately captured. After the filling, the filling lance is withdrawn and with the suction activated, it drains off above the opening of the container. The containers are then sealed with the appropriate equipment so that they are suitable for transport, and leave the filling area on the pallet.
Filling of a drum on a pallet (suction incorrectly/correctly positioned)
The video shows how the negative impact on employees is reduced to the minimum when filling a drum with the suction system positioned as closely to the drum opening as possible.
