The safe filling of bulk materials
Manual filling of bulk materials in powder flasks using a hand shovel
The powder flask to be filled is positioned on a balance to weigh the amount of the bulk material it will hold. The bulk material is transferred into the powder flask from a storage container using a hand shovel until the required fill quantity is reached. If the local exhaust ventilation inlet is not correctly positioned and/or the drop height is too great, dust will be released into the workplace air. If the local exhaust ventilation inlet is correctly positioned and/or the drop height is reduced, the amount of dust released into the workplace air is minimised. After they have been filled, the powder flasks are sealed and placed on a bench, ready for collection.
