Video in control rooms: Mental workload analysis
(in German)
This report summarises the work carried out within the framework of the research project focussing on modern information communication technologies and display options of videos in control rooms. Within this project, we examined to what extent technologies and display options of videos are suitable for the use in control rooms and affect the mental workload of operators. For this purpose, we conducted both a highly controlled laboratory study as well as a field study in order to gain most comprehensive insights regarding the workload as well as the demands of the users. This work focusses on the technologies and display options autocycling, mirror reflections, distortions, 3D-depictions and LED-Walls. This report provides an overview of the findings and derives design recommendations from them, which can be particularly helpful for the design and redesign of control rooms. These are presented in chapter 8 of this report.
