Sanitary spaces - at least in the form of toilet spaces - are to be found at all working places. An appropriate design and equipment is therefore a necessity for all working places. According to operational general conditions changing-rooms as well as washing- and shower rooms are to be found in a lot of enterprises. The here described project works have pursued the aim to provide a database about the current situation in enterprises. This in view of the temporally in parallel executed new rule settlement with regard to the demands for the contemporary arrangement and allocation of toilets, urinals as well as washing- and shower places and changing rooms in enterprises. The database provided may support the works to the rule settlement in line with standard usage.

Besides, existing operational sanitary spaces were documented on the one hand, on the other hand, employees were asked for their estimation with regard to design and equipment. Mainly, small and medium-sized enterprises were considered. Altogether 16 business units could be included in the investigation and altogether 85 toilet spaces, 21 washing-rooms or shower rooms as well as 23 changing-rooms were documented. The main period of examination was spring 2010 till spring 2011. Altogether 361 employees participated in the questionings, which confirms the relevance of the subject. More than half of these employees also documented their toilet uses in each case for a period of 5 workdays. These documentations provide information about waiting periods based on more than 3.000 toilet uses.

This report describes the execution of the investigation as well as the results in quantitative and qualitative form. For the rule settlement an extensive database is now present, based on which the effects of demands and recommendations can be estimated.
