BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey 2017/2018

  • Project number: F 2417
  • Institution: Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) / Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)
  • Status: Completed Project

Description:

Since 1979, the Employment Survey is conducted on regular bases (usually about 5-6 years); the BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey 2017/2018 is the seventh wave of the survey. Since 1998/1999, BAuA is involved in the survey (since 2005/2006 as partner), resulting in a stronger focus on working conditions and their outcomes. Other considered aspects of employment are knowledge, requirements, qualification, vocational training etc.

In the BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey 2017/2018, 20.012 employees aged 15 and over with a weekly working time of at least 10 hours using Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) were surveyed. With the BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey 2017/2018, current data are available to describe the qualifications, occupations, working conditions and the health status of employed persons in Germany in detail. More information on the survey method can be found in the methodological report on the BIBB homepage.

Furthermore the baua: Report "Grundauswertung der BIBB/BAuA-Erwerbstätigenbefragung 2018" presents the 2017/2018 survey's data compared to 2005/2006 and 2011/2012. This report shows percentage frequency distributions for the work and health situation of German employees for 2017/2018 as well as the changes in the work and health situation compared to the previous years. In addition, several transfer/policy advice-orientated and scientific publications have already been published (e.g. fact sheets on the topics of work intensity, physical working conditions, logistics; scientific publications on the topics of "New work requirements and well-being of employees" and "Work intensification and autonomy in digitised working environments").

As part of project F 2453 "BIBB/BAuA Employment Survey - Evaluation and Scientific Utilisation", the data will be analysed in greater depth from various points of view (e.g. determinants of work intensity, digitisation and working conditions or job and task profiles of employees).
