Development and validation of control guidance sheets for protection against chemicals in maintenance and parking of cars

  • Project number: F 2307
  • Institution: Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)
  • Status: Completed Project

Description:

Workplace measurements will be conducted in maintenance and garage areas for vehicles using the PIMEX-system. Only workshops having implemented the process- or sector-specific guidance developed by the social insurance for reducing exposure towards the key component carbon monoxide will be included. Results of the effectiveness check will be used to develop a set of validated specific control guidance sheets.

The effectiveness of measures will also be evaluated using the same approach for processes performed in garages for heavy vehicles (fire stations, medical transportation, public transport). The focus will be on minimization of worker exposure through carcinogenic emissions from diesel engines. The evaluation will be accompanied by biological monitoring of the workers.
