Stationary morbidity of uranium miners of the Wismut 1985 - 1989

  • Project number: F 2155
  • Institution: Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA)
  • Status: Completed Project

Description:

Archives of the former Wismut health care system is one of the best documented data archives for occupational safety and health in the former GDR. After the reunification the German Federal Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA) is responsible for the administration and analyses of this important database. Beside the analysis of sickness absence, stationary morbidity is one starting point to prioritise further investigations of diseases. Therefore statistics of stationary morbidity of main categories will be calculated as well as statistical analysis of more specific categories like diseases of the musculoskeletal system and cardiovascular diseases. Data of the population of the former GDR will be taken as reference for comparison and adjustment of the Wismut data and for calculation of an age-adjusted morbidity rate.

This project provides preliminary studies for the project F 2329 "Occupational exposure to respirable dust and risk of myocardial infarction among former WISMUT employees".
