The unit 'Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Systems in transformation; Coordination Occupational Safety and Health structures' is concerned with the performance and possible need for further development of occupational safety and health within companies and beyond.
The focus is on analyses of how appropriate and effective occupational safety and health processes and structures are and remain in the changing world of work.
Among other things, we examine how occupational safety and health can be guaranteed in increasingly networked work structures, such as supply chains. In particular, we focus on occupational safety and health activities at the interfaces between companies, influenced by inter-organisational cooperation and communication at management and employee level.
Furthermore, we examine the support and hazard potential of digitalisation for the health-promoting and future-oriented design of labour inspection activities.
In addition, we focus on company prevention practice and the support of small and medium-sized companies by OSH specialists and occupational physicians.
The 'Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Systems in transformation; Coordination Occupational Safety and Health structures' unit is also responsible for the management of the Committee on Safety and Health at Work (ASGA). The ASGA advises the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) on all issues relating to occupational safety and health in a changing world of work. In particular, the ASGA's task is to develop rules and findings on how to fulfil the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act. In addition, the ASGA coordinates the technical co-operation of the various occupational health and safety committees set up at the BMAS.
An overarching task of the unit is to coordinate and bring together the various specialist perspectives and expertise on the occupational safety and health system. In particular, this includes the activities and findings of the General Office of the National OSH Conference and the Federal Office for Occupational Safety and Health. This linking of content helps to further integrate knowledge about the structures and instruments of occupational safety and health and thus to better justify and jointly focus research activities and recommendations for the further development of the occupational safety and health system.
